Sculpture and Joshua Harker

How do artists reach new audiences? They create entirely new pathways.

New technologies are changing both the way sculpture is made and how it is marketed. Sculptor Joshua Harker's project, called “Crania Anatomica Filigre: Me to You”, is a Kickstarter success, reaching its full funding in record time. The lace like skull is built on a 3D printer.

Beatriz, It is amazing to actually see sculpture being "printed". Look around to see if there's anyone in your area doing it.....
Do I want to make my own sculpture this way? Not really. I love everything about clay and wood and stone.
Not in love with more plastic and hours at the computer instead of my workbench. I suspect the same is true for you.

hey, thanks for visiting my blog. Yeah, Wayne Thiebaud encourages me, too. An art critic said at one point in his career that he must be the hungriest artist in California. I bet THAT was encouraging! Sheesh! We just have to keep going!
Hey, I love the skull. Beats Damien Hurst's diamond studded skull all to pieces. Anyone could do that... well... anyone that had millions of dollars to toss at diamonds... :)

Yes, it’s a wonder to see things come out that way but as you say, the touch of wood or stone is something indispensable. I love making things with my own hands.

Hi,

We are launching our very own crowdfunding campaign for our company Protos Eyewear to crowdfund custom fit eyewear made via 3D printing and we would love your help and support in any way, shape or form. Kickstarter no longer allows eyewear so we have to work extra hard to get the word out. If you would like to write about our compelling project then please check out our crowdfunding press kit page here: http://protoseyewear.com/press

We would be forever grateful if you shared our project with your readers, friends, or whoever you think would be interested as we prepare for our launch!

Sincerely,

Xav
