Sculpture and the Portland Japanese Garden

After the first waves of spring color, the fruit trees, the bulbs, the rhododendrons fade,
there is still the quiet riot of spring greens.

A walk through the Japanese Gardens is a lesson in shades of green discernment.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leafs a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.  ..............Robert Frost
